The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art is a versatile full-frame standard zoom designed for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Its 24-70mm focal range covers everything from wide-angle compositions to short telephoto perspectives, making it suitable for portraits, weddings, events, landscapes, travel, commercial work, and video production.

The lens features a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range, providing consistent exposure control while allowing photographers to work in lower-light conditions and create shallow depth of field. Sigma describes the lens as delivering high sharpness throughout the image area, including when shooting at maximum aperture.

Its optical design consists of 19 elements in 15 groups, including 6 FLD glass elements, 2 SLD glass elements, and 5 aspherical elements. The design is intended to provide high resolution while controlling optical aberrations, flare, and ghosting.

Autofocus is driven by Sigma’s High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) system. Sigma states that the redesigned autofocus system is approximately 3× faster than the previous generation, while also supporting high-speed autofocus operation. The lens is also designed to minimize focus breathing, making it particularly useful for video and focus-pulling applications.

For close-up work, the lens focuses as close as 17cm at 24mm and 34cm at 70mm, with maximum magnification ratios of 1:2.7 and 1:4, respectively. It also features an 11-blade rounded diaphragm, an aperture ring with a click/de-click switch, two AFL buttons, and a zoom-lock switch.

Compared with the previous 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, Sigma states that the Mark II is approximately 7% smaller and 10% lighter, while adding features such as the aperture ring and two AFL buttons. The Sony E-mount version weighs approximately 735g.
